My Light in the Dark

by Jordan W   May 17, 2009

Like a drowning man needs air,
I need you.
Your soft smile to brighten my dark days,
Your shining eyes to split my face into a smile,
Where usually hangs a frown.

Alone and in the dark,
I grope blindly.
Hoping to find you.
Hoping to just brush against you.
Hoping with all I have to just hear your voice in this endless night.

I know that when I find you,
This dark will dissolve.
The light will shine through,
And no longer will my chest be filled with a void.
No longer will my throat tighten at the sight of love.

Like the second half of my heart,
You wait out there for me to find.
Like the air a drowning man needs,
You wait at the surface of the water,
Waiting for me to break my head free.

Men will come and go,
Women will pass and smile.
But only you...
Will shine in front of me,
Like the glowing moon...
On a crystal clear night.
