Rain.

by Dreambound   May 17, 2009

It starts and the drops get louder,
I start to gaze and touch and close my eyes
I become lost in the sound
No sadness, no pain, no lies.

I could watch and stare and hear
For hours at a time,
I observe every droplet,
As the moments pass me by.

I hear the drops hit the leaves,
With a distant bird song
They desperately seek shelter,
While outside is where I long.

I take a walk of serenity,
Through the mist that calms my mind
Beneath the forest green and clouds,
Under this shelter, peace I will find.

An occasional drop falls on me through the gaps,
As I gaze and listen under the leaves
Almost as if reminding me
How it puts my mind at ease.

And when I'm sitting all alone,
I dream not of future dates
But only of the rain
And the white noise that it makes.

It washes away all sadness,
It streams away all pain
And when the sun breaks through those clouds,
I long once more for the rain.

[Was toying with a few ideas for a title, but I guess simplicity can usually be the best option.]

Beautiful descriptions of a love for rain and a longing to be in it. I feel the same way, its so refreshing and everything else you said was so true. Great imagery, rain is such a miracle from God and you wrote about it well.5/5 from me, take care and keep writing, always and forever...
