Swallow Me Up [Drown in the Rain]

by BlueEyedMystery   May 18, 2009

Two plavix
and a glass of whiskey.
Stay away from the blood.
It's infected
[with your breath]

Hairline fractures
on a heart, too hard.
Split apart,
dead
gone.

..thump.

Maybe..

I was just playing dead,
so you'd give me a treat,
and pat me on the head.
[Like a good girl]

I'll give you anything,
except the truth.
Lies are sweeter..
[Just like you]

Spin me out of this world,
on a rainbow twister

and I'll laugh at you
with the rain..

that you seem to be drowning in.

Wow...what a masterpiece this is. So sad I didn't come across is sooner so I could have nominated it. I really don't know what to say...this was so creative and different and I think that's what really draws me to your poems. I never read the same things twice. Never get sick of your word choice or how creative your titles are. You really have a good hang on how to be creative as well as controllinng your emotions. The emotions in this piece were intense with being too in your face or venting. I feel like you have found that balance between creativity and emotions that some other poets haven't found. I can honestly say this is one of your best poems and you should be very proud of your work. Nik
