Never Win (Eating Disorder)

by Miranda   May 19, 2009

Fingers grasping, grabbing, gripping.
Boney back, arms, thighs.
Mirrors mocking, taunting, teasing.
Tears streaming from your eyes.
People staring, gazing, gaping.
At the monster you've become.
Whispers begging, pleading, praying.
To never see the sun.
Razors cutting, slicing, slashing.
At your pale, withered skin.
Screams of sorrow, heartache, anguish.
Surrounded by your sin.
Questions asking, seeking, urging.
To make the chaos end.
Lips are parted, craving, yearning.
To break the dreaded trend.
Nightmares dancing, twirling, swaying.
Inside your crowded mind.
Demons tempting, luring, daring.
To take away your time.
Bodies trembling, rocking, shaking.
As the storm settles in.
Hearts are tearing, cracking, breaking.
You know you'll never win.

ED has been a common theme lately, (I'm assuming because its nearing summer) and I really liked how you incorporated so many descriptors into your writing. In the first line I wasn't sure if you meant grabbing or grappling, but that is just a minor spelling error. Though I've never found myself on the slippery slope of eating disorders, I have felt the pressure of wanting to look into a mirror and like what I see. I think the lines that impacted me the most is

    "Questions asking, seeking, urging.
    To make the chaos end."

It seems to describe exactly how it feels. To want to stop but being too afflicted to be able to. Great write with a plethora of emotion and superb imagery. 5/5.
