Seeing You Through New Eyes[contest]

by RoseBlood   May 21, 2009

You once met my eyes in the darkness
Decided to fill my life with happiness
Our hearts skipped their bits together
At the thought we'd last forever

Troubles and flaws overtook our love
But, we both stayed the same
When love is for real, it is supposed to last
Or, at least, that's what we thought

But, we couldn't step out of the rain
Each and every day caused us pain
You had left me with no regrets at all
The reason: my darkness flaw

I could never see the colors of the sunset
In the messed up world you were my guiding hand
In the darkness you were my brightest sun
Now you have left me, in the darkness all alone

It took some time before I could heal
But I got help from the world's reveal
I got new eyes that still look the same
But, they are now able to let the light in

After a long time, you met my eyes again
To you I seemed changed and healed
I was seeing you through my new eyes
But, you couldn't see the pain in my smiles

Nicely written. I like how you unfurl this story of yours from how you both 1st met to how the story ends.

I could never see the colors of the sunset
In the messed up world you were my guiding hand
In the darkness you were my brightest sun
Now you have left me, in the darkness all alone

^^^ I think this stanza stood out for me as it portrtays how you think of him. It must have hurt you deep when you were left alone in the dark.

The ending was brilliant. I like how you show your smile as the facade of your pain.

    Excellent Job
