Homeless people

by Chelsea   May 21, 2009

Walking down the street, people turn away
they see the ratty clothes and dirty faces and they have nothing to say.

A fear of them asking for money because they have none
but no one realizes they are just people that don't have a ton.

Some couldn't pay their bills and others are hooked on drugs
I am pretty sure half of them would do anything for a hug.

People walk by like they are nothing and treat them unfair
but does anyone think when you pass to say a quick prayer?

Some of them have kids, a husband and a wife
do you not think they feel guilty for not being part of their life.

No one knows their stories because no one really cares
its like they watch people pass them as their heart tears.

Would it hurt to take some time and ask them about their day
you might even brighten it instead of it being gray.

They are just people living their life as best as they can
so as we walk past don't look away, remember that this isn't where their life began.

Really good poem. I think you could write
alot of poems about the invisible people, you know, the people we see buit don't see.
this was a deep piece. Its good that you see
this. but, what can you really do? maybe
volunteer at a mission. someplace where
they feed the homeless, you can,t just
walk up to a homeless person and start a
comversation some of them have emotioal
problems. sometimes they.re drunk or on drugs so be carefull. anyway again I have say awesome poem 5/5
