Something happened

Something happened,
But I cannot say what it was;
There was no fanfare,
There certainly was no applause.

It changed me,
To a hateful little beast;
Snapped my heart in two,
And all empathy has ceased.

When it happened,
That I also don't know;
But as the years drag on,
My hatred continues to grow.
