Though the hand is soft and gentle

by InvisibleHourglass   May 25, 2009

I don't know if I can trust you
you've given me no reason to
no security
from harsh reality

see the woman who flinches in defense
though the hand is soft and gentle
see the man who drinks himself away
though his life is perfect

if you saw the way I did
you would need to be held tightly
and that doesn't mean kissed
all I want is a hug and sympathy

see the girl who breaks into sobs
though her world is calm
see the boy who screams in frustation
though the task is simple

I cant play superhero forever
stop me from holding the world on my shoulders
or at least share the weight
I know I said this is what I wanted

see it all
through it all
leave nothing to a blind eye
but can I really survive?
their pain is mine

This was a greatly portrayed poem, though it seemed quickly put together and lacked in flow. Though I love what the message was and how it was portrayed. 4/5
