Memorial Day*

On this Memorial Day
Most people are throwing Bar-B-Q's
But today my went to a place
That brave marines fought for venues
We walked through a marked path
The atmosphere not as it should
We were walking through an area
That brave marines had once stood
While we were walking
We had a chill through our bones
For what we were about to approach
Was a giant silver stone
It was marked with names
That I didn't even recognize
But what it said had made me realize:
People that didn't know us
Had sacrificed their all
So our country would remain safe
While they had their greatest fall
Next to the names in big black letters
Said the words "They came in peace"
Freedom was locked in a cell
From which they tried to release
Their efforts were enough
To make me want to cry
They just didn't give up for their loved ones
For them they had to try
So as we reflected on the way back to the car
The air was filled with silence
Those who had taken a risk
Each other part of the alliance
We're now driving away from the memorial
Of which I now think differently
We're now here because of them
Even if they hadn't finished "Successfully"
I will reflect for them on Memorial Day
In God's name will I pray
