Well travelled path

by Nicko   May 26, 2009

The seat belt that restrains
Is of my constraint
For the barbs of your saintly hood
Penetrate my interior
To ooze, painting the crimson floor

Am I that warped in my perceptions?
So bereft of worldly wise
To test my sense of normality
Is this why we stand alone
This my neurosis

To expound such thoughts
Exposing my dogma
I will not wilt!
I will be "holier that thou"!
I will risk all in my righteousness!

Sighing, I stumble at hells door
To lose what is held so dear?
That is held on the precipice of a pendulum
That could swing to desolation in a heart beat
No, no I'm not that strong

Capitulation
Surrendering my soul
with pride dripping from my tongue
For self preservation
Screaming at myself
Again to travel this path once more

When I read this well written piece I think of one of my favorite poets who had relatives in
New Zealand. In fact his father Owen Merton was a painter there.

    I really enjoyed this.
