January Lullaby

by Lady Nik   May 29, 2009

It never ends
This pain I feel
Wounds forever reopening
When will they heal?
I found your smile
Amongst the stars
You found your name
Craved in my arm.
What a trade
My heart now ground to dust
Me the stupid girl
You the boy in lust.
I thought you were perfect
My real life dream
Now my nightmare stained tears
Can't seem to leave.
I found solace
Within you velvet voice
You found the empty pill bottles
From my failed overdose.
Sadness doesn't work here
Misery has no place
You said your worst
I'm holding my head down in shame.
I'll see, I'll be
The tears that I cry
Over and over
Singing this January lullaby

This is deeply depressing. I can truly say I've been in this same position before. To fall in love then to be duped. It's a hard thing to overcome. Silence often is a deadly enemy. It can allow us to fill our heads with thoughts. Thoughts of dying or killing ourselves. Pain engulfs us in tides. We put aside all other loves. Just to dwell on this singular one. Heartache causes a destitution of feeling. Many sleepless nights. Dreading the morning lights. I recall one quote of mine "Dire consequences make life horrid, While the sweetest of consequences can cause pain often enough as well."
    Beautiful poem.
    Bravo.

Wow... i just... wow. The last line was beautiful. I can really feel the pain speaking in your words. It almost radiaes hurt. I can relate (not exactly, no one ever can) but I sorta understand this. It's beautiful and has a lovely flow to it that really connects to the audience. Bravo! 5/5.
