Sad Cafe

by Deana   Jun 3, 2009

In the dim light I sat
Lukewarm coffee before me
Waiting for the conversation,
that would heal all wounds
Surely there must be words,
that can fill a void with light

In a sad cafe,
Alone with myself
I waited...

Time became heavy,
the weight of it staggering
upon my trembling hands
as they touched the cup
No one entered...
though the door stood open

Melodic voice, speaking of pain and joy
drifting softly, through air tinted blue
Poets, lost in a world of metaphor
Seeking images to better define the heart
Gazing into the smoke filled darkness
I lingered over an empty cup

In a sad cafe,
Alone with myself,
I waited...

I loved this poem in many ways, the loneliness desribed, I felt as though I was sitting there waiting with you. You really have the ability to pull the reader in, and thats` a great gift indeed. Timothy r

A very different write from you, Deana.

I liked it, especially the repetition, which gave it a really sad touch.

This is indeed us, the poets of the world, ha ha.

Deana you created imagery here that I feel I can relate to. The waiting for words that never seem to come, as the coffee grows cooler by the minute. Loved the last 2 lines !!!! Very brilliant.

Wonderfully penned Deana .... Awesome read !!!!
