The Lowest Branch

The walls of my heart are slowly closing,
Everything is shutting down, no use in hoping.
Something this cold, will leave us lonely.
But still I hear them say, "If only..."

When will they learn, this cold, cold thing
Has nothing good at all to bring.
Lies of comfort, they shield their eyes.
Anything, this mask it hides.

The truth is right there you see.
The lowest branch that's on this tree.
But they've passed this lowest low.
To the very top not slow to show.

When will they learn, this cold, cold thing
Has nothing good at all to bring.
Lies of comfort, they shield their eyes.
Anything, this mask it hides.

Oh how disappointed they will be.
When they see the bottom tree.
Lies pour out this open scar.
Now they see what wasn't far.

When will they learn, this cold, cold thing
Has nothing good at all to bring.
Lies of comfort, they shield their eyes.
Anything, this mask it hides.
