Battles

by LonelyNightsHurt   Jun 14, 2009

Lonely as I am
We stand here as one
We fight our battle alone
Just as we've always done

Little victories that we have
Don't mean much anymore
Haven't done in a while
Since you walked out the door

You left so peacefully
Waiting 'til I was asleep
No note, no kiss goodbye
I was left here to weep

And as lonely as I am
I won't let you come home
I want you feel this way
I want you to be alone

I don't need to feel you
Or have you kiss me hello
Because I know I'll be killed
With one last blow

We once fought as a team
We stood in unity - you and I
I would let you come home now
I do nothing but cry

And though my heart is breaking
I won't let it be seen
Because I'm still fighting my battles
The way it has always been

To stand together re-united
We could win any war
But you mouth these four words
"What the f*&k for?"

My dreams of having you on my side
Have all but left me now
I will fight my own battles
I just need to learn how

Lonely
