Cold blue water

Hi this is a very personal, sad dark tale about addiction and I feel some times an addiction isn't drugs or alcohol but it can be that a person is addicted to pain and therefore harms them selves or allows others to hurt them time and time again which is unfortunate.

1: A very powerful opening. I like your word usage here because when life only gives us bad days and months we do feel like we have no time to breath and when we do we meet ourselves coming back. I like how you say trench here because you could have used dead end (like many others including me do) but I feel trench is much more powerful because it represents the lonely, dark feeling in my opinion.

2: This shows us why you had dark days. Addiction isn't understood sometimes and though I don't agree with taking up an addiction to help with those times in our lives some people do and it helps them a lot, unfortunately which can sometimes end badly.

3: Here we see the addiction and vicious cycle begin wanting to stop (possibly) but unable too because of how good it makes us feel. It's like a coffee lover saying "oh just one more to help me start the day." and I use coffee because its less looked down upon but still can be addictive.

4: obsession like dark days can be very hard to cope with which is where the vicious cycle comes from... We want put but we can't think of an escape route because its just not that simple then here we have it, we reach rock bottom and there seems no way out.

5: The first we do is deny any wrong doing we have done and until we can accept fault and take blame for our actions there is no going back, I learned this the hard way.

6: What I said earlier once we accept blame we can find a way out but still it's not easy and sometimes we need to accept that we cannot do it alone.

7&8: I am glad you received the help you needed, as I said its hard to do these things alone.

A very well written poem... telling of your anguish... but happy ending. I really liked reading this... it is so well expressed. Im glad you made it through in the end... from this sad obsession and its cruelty. Well done all round! Fantastic write.

Good that you recovered from all this. I personally havent been addicted to anything, but it's often clear to see how some struggle to get out. I hope you're still doing good.. as for the poem, i think you wrote it very well and it seemed realistically written as well, you pull the reader into it, with nice use of vocabulary and flow too. 5/5 xx Denise
