Stevie Sutter had a Stutter

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Jun 15, 2009

Stevie Sutter had a stupendous stutter,
but he sought his words to flow as butter.
When he spoke his heart would flutter
then his mouth would start to sputter.
So Sutter went to a class to utter
sentences to flow smooth as butter.
When his words flowed like butter
Sutter stated he'd beaten his stutter.

Poetic license flow like butter I must admit I have never seen butter flow?
    As smooth as butter yes!
like the idea but to me unless it is a deliberate poetic license the poem does not work.
L2 - Yet he wanted his words to flow like water in a gutter or a ball hit with a putter or as smooth as butter

L7 - When his words flowed as smooth as butter
What do you think? Let us know if this is a help?

What a wonderful tongue twister you have created here. Ironic that the tongue twister is about a stutterer. I too use to stutter really bad and on occasion I sometimes still do. I was awful at it and took classes and now I answer thousands of phone calls a week. So I suppose I do okay for someone that use to stutter so badly. There is a great message in your write too for kids and adults who stutter to know it can be beaten. Thanks for the write. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
    Take Care,
