Battle Of The Loveless

One minute it's love
And suddenly it's like a battlefield.
No more terms of endearment
Or soft soothing kisses.
I'm surrounded by bullets and bombs
Fighting love, my nemesis.

One minute it's us
And suddenly it's like I'm stranded.
No help with protection
Just me, myself and insanity
Wishing these weapons would work
Then maybe you'd understand me.

One minute it's bright
And suddenly it's like a black hole
No more days together
Or nights nestled in your arms
I'm surrounded by blood and bones
Body count, sound the alarms.

One minute it's heaven
And suddenly it's like I'm damned
No help with salvation
Just me, the lost and the dead
Wishing these wounds would well
Then maybe I wouldn't feel so much dread.

    I love the creative repetition you used for the first two lines of each stanza. Your poem showed great flow as well as an interesting topic. A healthy mix of straight foreward thoughts and slight metaphors, this was a well written piece. Well Done.
