Why is it we have more schools, but lower attendance rates?
Better role models, but lower morals?
More medicine, but less wellness?
More knowledge about STD's, but climbing infection rates?
An increasingly diverse nation, but more discrimination?
Why is it we have bigger homes, yet smaller families?
Centuries of experience, but mistakes made over and over again?
More questions, but fewer answers?
Drugs to improve your sex life, but still no cure for cancer or HIV-AIDS?
More fast food restaurants, but fewer gym?
Why is it we have increasingly different thoughts and ideas, but narrower viewpoints?
We are so quick to hate and fight, but things like forgiveness take a while?
The word ;ove is used more frequently, yet its meaning continues to diminish?
We are pen pals with people from different countries, but cann'ttalk to that "different" person at school?
We have more psychiatrists and therapy, yet shorter tempers?
We is it we buy more, yet enjoy it less?
We have learned to rush, but not to wait?
We have an obesity problem while people are starving?
We have fancier houses, yet broken homes?
This is the age of two incomes, but more divorce?
Why is it we have more knowledge, but less judgment?
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values?
We have split the atom, but not our prejudice?
We have more ways to communicate, but less communication?
We are always talking, but never really saying anything?
We have more kinds of food, but less nutrition?
This is the disposable age.
Use a person, them toss them.
One night stands and throw-away morality.
We smoke too much,
Drink too much, spend too recklessly,
Drive too fast,
Get too angry too quickly,
Stay up too late,
Wake up too tired,
Read too seldom
And hate too often.
Our generation has a ton of new problems, but how can we improve ourselves
When we have yet to learn from our past mistakes?
In today'ss world, if I were to ask someone to name 10 celebrities
They could do it, with ease.
But to name 10 scientists or philosophers would be almost impossible.
We are all so quick to hurt one another, but slow to help.
Knocking others down in our struggle to get "on top."
Everyone is striving for a better life, yet they don't even stop to live the life they have.
Why is it, the only time we know there is a problem is when the media sensationalizes it.
Yet we ignore that same problem when its right in front of our faces.
Why are we so quick to blame anyone but ourselves for our problems, and instead
We turn to pills- pills to cheer, to quiet, too kill?
Things like suicide, homicide, and genocide are nothing new,
But concepts like love, acceptance and peace are foreign?
More importantly, why is it we have more reasons than ever to love one another, yet there is still hate?
Does anyone have an answer?
