Exhaustion: finally caught up with me.
After a day of barely oversleeping,
I had been so busy dreaming-
in the absence of my lover's voice
I decided to take a spontaneous trip
into my electronically magical imaginary world...
(and I must say, and danced and twirled all the way there).
When I arrived the sun was out to dinner
so the stars swung and swooned under the moon
And it was that time of night that I'm all alone
and I gazed at the invisible airplanes and sailboats
soaring through the rainbows shadowed by clouds
The nightingale tied blue ribbons in my blond hair
But my summer dress was not appropriate for the occasion
So I striped myself of my skin and burning eyes and
Dived right into the ripples of the atmosphere
I landed on my hands collapsed into a circus tent
as uni-cycles rolled by and owls hooted with laughter
an orange cat saw me walking on my hands on a balance beam
and boasted he could do better and pranced on the type-rope
So I clapped for him and cartwheeled right out of there
So I could search for my canine companion with scruffy fur
I found him lounging on my favorite couch with my sock
As he joined my world his eyes glowed bright neon green
And his voice was so much more than I imagined in dreams
We romped and barked through piles of leaves and puddles
I draped us in flowers and we laid in the grass like lovers
Gently held him and pet his blond fur and kissed his dirty paws
And told him how he was so small but meant everything to me...
and that he would live for so long but when he died
I would take his eyes and put them in the evening sky
and they would shine like little stars over me
So I could gaze at them and remember his every glance
And I would wear a vial of his ashes around my neck
So he could still be close and go every where with me...
Until one day I too became ashes and we'd be together again.
And afterword we shook the flowers off and he wagged his tail
and said it was time to go home because he was so hungry
And I woke up with the most amazing appetite for dog biscuits.
