Velvet Surroundings (Ekphrasis; Song)

by Italian Stallion   Jun 23, 2009

Closing the door for us,
Closing skies eyes for us,
what is this feeling that embraces our hearts,
yet disappears from us?

Who wants everlasting love,
who wants everlasting love?

Closing the road for us,
it's a detour for us,
this world has tender-velvet memories
in store for us.

Who wants everlasting love,
who wants everlasting love?

Now touch my face with your bliss,
touch my soul with your kiss,
and we can have love,
and we can adore love,
Love is our today.

Who wants everlasting love,
who wants everlasting love?

Who waits forever anyway?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ekphrasis or ecphrasis is the graphic, often dramatic description of a visual work of art. In ancient times it referred to a description of any thing, person, or experience. The word comes from the Greek ek and phrasis, 'out' and 'speak' respectively, verb ekphrazein, to proclaim or call an inanimate object by name.
    This was truly beautiful, everything about it was so deep and entrancing. My only suggestion would be about this second line:
    "Closing skies eyes for us,"
    I didn't really like the "skies eyes" part, it didn't read well for me and kind of threw me off.
    Maybe change to "Closing the eye of the sky for us," or something else. This is just my opinion though.
    Otherwise, well-penned, this was an enjoyable and original piece to read. Keep writing, always and forever...
