Just you and your Heart

by BurriedFaceDown   Jun 24, 2009

Hearts are meant to be filled,
Filled with heaps of love,
Though with love comes pain,
This is what hearts are made of,

Sometimes hearts can be so big,
That one day it will burst into tears,
Its swollen pain will make it hard to breath,
As it unleashes all your worst fears,

Its raw texture causes you to be venerable,
Open to any warm voice and kind face,
And as you take in all the beautiful lies,
You believe this imaginary place,

Your heart will lust for falsehood,
It will eat it up and swallow deception,
Then you realize everything that was told to you,
Curling up into ball you look at things from a new perception,

Your heart starts to freeze over, stone cold,
Trying to protect itself from the world,
Even if on the outside you look alright,
You want to run and cry as your heart takes another whirl,

Your heart quickly becomes lonely,
It yearns for someone to listen to its needs,
But it's still so scared and small,
It's now shriveled up and ugly like a rotten seed,

Yet you try to get up and give love another shot,
But you're so scared that you'll end up here again,
How many times will your hear be broken?
How long until your heart looks like a heart again?

One more time, your heart says,
As you wipe away the tears,
You face the world again,
Just you and your heart against your fears,
