Gargoyle

by Grant Gilbert AKA Slash   Jun 24, 2009

Gargoyle

Sitting on this cathedral spire
Quiet night sounds, as they retire
Midnight sounds to the bells sweet tone
As I shake these bonds of stone

Muscles swell and move with ease
Night time promise returns to tease
These shadows move, they're black and gray
As gargoyles move, about to play

Cursed by this spell so long ago
Bound in stone so all would know
Still at night we crunch their bones
By day they search among their own

Destined by fate to be alone
As each day breaks I turn to stone
Hark the quiet sound of flight
I ride my griffin through the night

We'll perch the abutments of this wall
When midnight strikes we'll begin to crawl
A loneliness that none should see
If only I were made of flesh like thee

This is a dark poem with attitude . Creative and original. I'm not a big fan of the dark side of poetry but this may have changed my mind.
    Impressive piece of poetry

Very original. You brought the gargoyle to life and gave it a voice. The flow is very good, easy to read. Well done as usual.
