Forever Was Sealed Yesterday

by Tsukuyomi   Jun 24, 2009

What is a friend?
I've asked myself this,
so many times before.
It seems the concept has faded,
become distorted if you will.
We lie to ourselves,
Saying "They are just joking around..."
But how far can these 'jokes' go?
How much longer will they continue?

You said you were forever.
You said you would last.
When did it change
And I became the outcast?
Let's turn the clock back around
And pray on yesterday's sunrise.
I wasn't your little game of fun
And the object of your lies.
I was your friend.
So tell me,
Why?

Perhaps it was to stand out?
Is looking cool that important?
Degrading the things,
that give you strength.
Oh what a fashion it's become.
Let's start a new trend,
the both of us!
Let's go swim in acid!
It may hurt a little,
But at least we will look cool!
Seriously, how dumb are you?

Forgive me for thinking
I meant more than nothing.
Forgive me for thinking
I actually was something.
Words are razor thin
Hanging from your noose
But curtain calls dear,
And I'm not gonna lose.

A wise man once said,
"The World Is a Stage".
This may be true,
But does not mean we,
must be part of it's performance.
While you play the fool,
I shall stand in the wings.
No longer shall you hold me down.
I'm done with the show and its time,
for me to go my separate way.

It's not worth the fight
To keep struggling for air
While you're drowning me
In your ocean current's scare.
This is our final goodbye
To an end that has long been dead.

I thought we were making progress,
Opening up to each other.
But what I thought was you letting me in,
Was just merely a cover.
Its time to say goodbye,
with a heavy heart I do.
Hopefully one day you'll realize,
the mistake, Adieu

I liked this poem because it has a common point where everyone can really relate. I found it had some good ideas. Stanzas were decent, and the word choice was unique.

    We lie to ourselves,
Saying "They are just joking around..."
But how far can these 'jokes' go?
How much longer will they continue?

^My favorite. Good job to you and taylor! 5/5

This is amazing. I feel your sadness and anger in your words...I loved every bit of it.
I love the flow of the words and I loved how emotional this was.

I actually went through something like this...so I can relate.....

She said "Best Friends No Matter What".....LIES.

    Great job
    5/5!!!!
    keep up amazing work

    Kisses!

I can feel the anger and disappointment. But someday that person will see that being cool doesnt mean everything.. Well done how you put that in words, Thats something I felt to. When I lost a good friend today. But didnt know how to put it in words. And while I tried he didnt understanded what I meant by what I said.. Keep up the good work !!
