Liberty Rant

by Daisy if you do   Jun 26, 2009

Freedom of speech
Be careful what you say
Likely to be decapitated
when you bow your head to pray
No shackles on religion
When you cut the ties that bind
When brothers murder brothers
because they've lost their minds

Blame it on the drugs
you beg to legalize
Cannot see your future
through stoned and bloodshot eyes
Separation happens
not with church and state
Leave it to the government
the decision of your fate

Form a little union
grant everyone their rights
When morals matter not
it will start the civil fights
Encourage them to sue
for all their wrongful woes
Take his land and home
and even take his clothes

Just take away our guns
With no rights to bear arms
Defending all we've worked for
To protect our families from harm
Then fire all the working class
send them to the welfare line
Tell them they don't qualify
and watch their hopes decline

America and her spacious skies
whose land was once a dream
Now a nightmare's legacy
The "change" was too extreme
Justice scales have broken
Liberty bows her head
A land that once was bountiful
barely hanging by a thread...

    Kay,

It has been a very long time since I last read your poems, but this one is just so profound I have to comment.

I think you said it all about a proud nation going down the drain. It breaks my heart to see the many homeless American people on tv and the way the future is squandered by all those who claim to be God's gift to mankind ( filling mostly their own pockets as they go).
I hope the tide will be turned before it's too late..In my country the situation is just as bad, sad to say.

Well written, an eloquent plea and a wake up call that should be read by all ( your) people:)

    Take care,

    5/5 Ingrid
