Fading Like a Flower

by Melpomene   Jun 26, 2009

I once,
ran my fingers;
across the piano keys
and you shivered
with the motive
that I would play
for you that night.
-perfidious-

I was,
a palm reader
when Nox betrayed
the sky.
Aurora was passive
therefor I carved
your love line
by day light.

and so I bled.

You were,
a shape shifter
when tea leaves lied.
A fraction of illusion,
so I played for you tonight.

...To watch you fade.

When the fog rolled
from my eyes
-You-
were gone.

Great work here Mel. I enjoyed the flow of it, it was like a melancholy whisper as I read it in my head, I think that's the best way I can describe it.

I especially enjoyed the ending, the way you gave in.

    You were,
    a shape shifter
    when tea leaves lied.
    A fraction of illusion,
so I played for you tonight.

I thought it was a great ending.

Nice work, it was great from start to end.

This piece is stunning, truly it is. Your vocab is so intense and some words I never have even heard of before. I love the word choice and imagery you created, this isn't like any piece I've read before. You should be very proud of this poem, you did a fantastic job! Congratulations on the win, you deserved it!

    God Bless You!
