We Dance Alone

by brie kelly wise   Jun 30, 2009

I grew up on the banks of the river
Never grew tired as the waves grew bigger
Learning how to swim with just a hand in mine
But soon I was swimming past the gold coast line

Summer grew warm on the banks of the river
Lovers get far with just shake and shiver
My friends and I, well we had some fun
But it never did compare to the setting sun

Summer grew long on the banks of the river
We were singing old songs as the campfires flickered
Midnight lovers danced to the moonlight
You and I tried to dance but we laughed all night

Fall leaves sprinkled the banks of the river
Our tan little bodies ran out of vigor
I still remember but I never did know
Why we loved to dance all alone
