The Imprint of His Shoe

by Chrissy   Jul 2, 2009

Confrontation which leads to violence.
he beats her, her husband,
her child's father.

She lies motionless on the floor,
He kicks her once more, then leaves her
there, her mind a blur, her heart broken
in two, she silently cries, she doesn't know
what to do. Bruises on her side, the imprint of his shoe.

The boy watches, he sees, but what can he do?
Soon his father will take his anger out on him too.

He looks at his father, big mistake, anger and
frustration, another life to take.

He runs, but it's too late, his mother yells, "let him go
for goodness sake."

He grabs the boy, shaking him constantly, throwing him to the floor, but he's not done yet, he beats him, more and more.

Laying there, lifelessly, He kicks the boy on his side, leaving the imprint of his shoe, was there really
nothing, no one could do?

Confrontation which leads to violence, now leaves
nothing but agonizing silence.

The subject and story this poem is about is touching. The flow of the words could be worked on but with the emotion in the poem over looked.
