End of Spring

by Raindog   Jul 5, 2009

And the bittersweet anthem that streamed from your cheeks
left streaks of apathy and dreams of bondage on my sheets
and in the dark i whispered in your ear, all full of metal
and the dreams that died on their way towards your brain
the things that died before we could make them real
or at least enough to feel

you were slumped on the lawn like a dead bumblebee at the end of spring
pegs stapled your ears shut so you couldn't wish a single thing
i know now I'll never get to hear you sing

always you'd mutter in your sleep of spinning in the sky
on a pink and golden cloud, high above your families
i heard rumours they buried your cousins, with sixty four others
in a stolen plain near district six that they had fought to save
the people that died for a cause they thought decent
suffered at the hands of something more recent

you were slumped on the lawn like a dead bumblebee at the end of spring
pegs stapled your ears shut so you couldn't dream a single thing
i know now I'll never ever hear you sing.
