My Sins

by Ben   Jul 9, 2009

I stand before you judge,
Guilty as can be,
For I have sinned, I have sinned,
My sins envelop me!

Lust and pride and greed are mine,
For I can offer but one defense.
A simple tale of love, my lord,
My heart is my penance.

For every day I spend with her,
One more is not enough.
Of lust and greed I am guilty,
So I willingly go in cuffs.

The sun doth shine in my sky,
When smile she does.
And rain will pour when she frowns,
From the heavens above.

For in rain or shine tis not enough,
One day will just not do,
Its more and more I want, I need,
Yes, love is my excuse.

Of my lust and greed for her,
I am also proud.
Proud that I can love her so,
For I shall wear no shroud!

No disguise can hide the truth.
Bind us and take us away,
For we have all sinned.
Love is my true sin, so I shall sin everyday.

    Ok-
i love how youve written it from the first person perspective and written it as a confession or statement (u know what i mean). I also like how you have incorporated 3 of the sins (lust, pride and greed) but used them to attribute to "love". very cleverly done.
The rhythm was relatively good throughout although some lines didnt seem to fit due to different syllable count etc-and although i love the message of the last line however it just didnt seem to flow and read as well as the rest of it.

however great work and goodluck! youre still the only one whos submitted so far =P
