I found all my friends

by kevin Boundy AKA the ghost   Jul 9, 2009

Voices fading in and out
Causing my hands to shiver and shake
I call this experience daily life
But you call it a "mental break"

I see things in the shadows
Things no person should see
I have thoughts pertaining to things
That simply shouldn't be

You can't be sure what's real
When your worst nightmare is your life
Phantoms and specters torment me
At the point of my own knife

Then I blink once more
As my eyes open I shriek
The image in the mirror
Makes it so hard to speak

I see myself holding a knife
To my own throat as I smile
My reflection says " I missed you
Haven't seen you in a while"

I drop the knife and close my eyes
Thinking I'd be safe in my own mind
"Think again my little toy
Relief is something you'll never find"

"Come back to us and I'll stop
Forget the world. they don't care
When everyone stabbed you in the back
Who was always there?"

I look back and realize
His point makes a lot of sense
I couldn't escape anyways
So I'll save myself the suspense

I think of it this way people
At least I'm not dead
Looks like "I found all my friends
They're in my head"

    This is a good poem
a little suggestion might be to
    add some punctuation
    like commas or something...
    your rhythms are nice

in the last stanza when you used the word his
it kinda threw me off abit
made it seem like there was another random person in the poem
it took me a few moments to realize that it was actually the reflection in the mirrior you were talking about

but altogether it is a great piece :)
