A Beautious Expedition

Nothing's everlasting
life's roads are long and winding
littered with debris of broken hearts;
but it's worth all the struggle
for everything's photographed.

Nothing's everlasting
for hearts do indeed collapse
under the pressure of affection;
but with tender intentions
the heart does reverse.

Nothing's everlasting,
although we always can dream
and embrace the warmth that lies within,
for a calloused heart
becomes un-smothered.

Nothing's lasting,
for it all must come to an end,
but when in the arms of a loved one
the surrounding world becomes unfocused,
stopping in time.

The roads might be a little hazy
but for a moment, they'll be cleared
and perhaps you'll find your way
through the beauty of the expedition
that's raveling within your heart.

Love is never promised,
but it's worth all the risk
for the reward is a pair of wings
with hope of flight
without all the littered debris.

Life is a quest full of roads,
long, short, up, and down,
but it is only you
who makes the decision
which way to go.

The roads may be long and winding,
but that won't stop me
from taking a journey to your heart.

This was absolutely beautiful. I have never read anything like it. I particularly liked the last stanza:

The roads may be long and winding,
    but that won't stop me
from taking a journey to your heart.

    Very nicely done on this.

    This is a good poem
    i liked reading it alot

"Life is a quest full of roads,
    long, short, up, and down,
    but it is only you
    who makes the decision
    which way to go."

that stanza i found was the most important of the whole poem
it sums up life very well
although i believe sometimes there are
certain circumstances where you must take a certain path that you do not want to
but good poem it was a very good read

Of all the wonderful verse in this poem this one struck me the most because for us all it is so true. Health, loved ones, life itself, fate and our hearts may very well try to govern what we do with our lives but the paths we take no matter what are the ones we take as in the end it is our decision which way we go and we can always stop and change direction if we want to take the right paths. Unfortunately it take strength and will power to get off the wrong path but you can if you are strong.

Poem like this is why I love this site so much they breath a breath of fresh air with their originality even though the subject is as old as life itself LOVE. I am very familiar with yhis authors work and have admire his poetry nearly from the beginning of joining this site as I have many of this sites authors and as of yet he has never written a poem that has been in my no, no categories of contrived, flowery, false or worst of all flat poetry. His poems always manage to stir me.

I found the make up of this poem well produces as always it has pace, flow and meter, it stirs deep emotions and makes me thoughtful, a WoW poem of excellence, I have added it to my favourites and will continue to look forwardd to reading all this poets new output. 5/5 Ray S

It's hard to write something about love, or heartache and make it original but I think you've done that. the touch of optimism is great . One gets tired of the "poor me " poems
Things happen and we move on a little sadder but hopefully wiser
    Excellent job.
