Goodnight Mum

by ..::Angel of your darkness::..   Jul 18, 2009

Your voice is deafening
Your words ring a nasty tone
Your eyes they just glare
On your face set as stone

I'll sit here and listen
Too all you have to say
I'll count up to ten
And wish your words away

But still you'll press them
Until they're graved on my soul
Then you'll put on that act
So no one else will know

You'll pretend to be loving
As any mother should be
You'll just lie to yourself
And those lies you'll believe

Well I wish I could get a mirror
And hold it in front of you
So you could constantly watch
All the hurtful things you do

And I'll watch your face crumble
And I'll see you break down and cry
And I'll think to myself
That's just how I feel inside

And when you're quite finished
I'll simply walk away
And be thankful to god
In this home I don't have to stay

I know I'm not perfect
And I don't try to be
But take a look at yourself
And tell me what you see

Because if I'm as bad as you say
And it's so often that you do
Then it's you I have to thank
Because I've learnt it all off you

So scream all you want
Because I've heard it all before
I guess that means we'll both be thankful
When I'm here no more

So goodnight mum I love you
Despite all the things you say
I guess I'll just close my eyes and sleep
And wish your words away...

Exactly how I used to feel. Your words capture ao well what I've been unable to say.
