Afterthoughts

by Anna La Fleur   Jul 19, 2009

Lets see what is there to do today...
work, shopping, park, and of course hit the hay
laundry, dishes, done, hooray
oh and cant forget the peach souffle

yes all is well and done
now to emails, one by one
oh goodness, what's this i see?
that beautiful girl wishing to talk to me?

promises promises, all of them broken
i'll call, i'll write, for each one a token
excuses excuses, all full of fish
one day i'll make being finished your wish

i promise darling, i'm here when you need
someone to turn to and your sadness to heed
sweet kindly woman, begging my time
always ensuring her one day she'll be mine

oh my look at that, one more thing to do
one less minute i'll spend caring for you
chop up the beef and boil some stew
now you're to wonder, when i'll have time for you too

always an afterthought in his mind.
always a task, consuming his time
always left wondering, if he'll ever be mine.
