Lies

by CrazyCowLady   Jul 23, 2009

Lies, lies, lies
The one thing we promised each other
No lies ever
We had learned our lesson

But, sometimes promises are made to be broken
Trying to keep me safe, sometimes to much
Controlling my social life was your greatest mistake
Protecting me but hurting at the same time

Staying over one night
Long night without you
Returning home, saying you were with a good friend
Believing you, curling up on the couch with you

Next day, bumping in with a good friend
Asking about the night before
Confusion crosses their face
I know the end is near

Tear filled eyes look back in the mirror
Realizing all the lies, how foolish i was
Driving towards the end of our life together
Thinking about the good times

A smile on your face, until you see the tears
Worrying you step closer to me
Backing away towards the car, i whisper 'dont'
Hurt you back away

Taking a breathe and swallowing my pride
'This can't go on, how can you even talk to him
You know what he did to me
How he has ruined my life'

With shaking legs, going into my room here for the last time
Gathering my possessions
Walking out the familiar back door, smiling at the dogs
Into the car, driving away, leaving you and the past behind me

This is a good poem. the flow felt a little bit off in a few places and you might want to add a word or two in some places. but other than that, this is another good poem by you. and the emotion you always put in your poems, is clear in this poem as well.
