You Drown Out The Stars

by anna   Jul 25, 2009

As I stroll in the night
The street lights spotlighting
and drown out the stars
cause intensity's blinding

My vision pervades me
and makes me believe
that the sign in the distance
is you that I see

And I know not the purpose
of this simple offer
what role do I play
the girl or the mother

but I know either way
that this listener by nature
will open you up
and unfold you like paper

your words soothe my nerves
and I quickly discover
your stories are songs
I could dance to forever

But I keep to myself
that i'm not quite a person
but a book of mistakes
and I left out the worst ones

And I can just tell
you pay so much attention.
By listening to you
I've learned all of life's lessons

And it's nothing like love
and more than pure interest
it's intrigue, a friendship
This form at it's purest

The time passed so quickly
and next thing I know
the sun's coming up
as you're walking me home

and we part with few words
Please have a goodnight
which didn't add up
It was already daylight.
