I'm Alive

There she is
Sitting on that wall
With her pen and paper
Writing it all

No one knows
What lies behind her smile
But someone should go
And sit with her a while

If they asked
What was wrong
She would play her smile
Until they were gone

But if they left
She would cry
Because every inch
Of her wants to die

People wouldn't guess
That she hides her pain
They would never know
She feels guilt and shame

If asked why
Tears would touch her cheeks
The pain would show
Of weeks upon weeks

Her heart is crushed
Because she can't be
With the one she wants
The girl she needs

Her wings are broken
Far beyond repair
They snapped in half
And she fell from the air

Her soul is lost
Found somewhere new
Broke free from her body
Got away and flew

If only people knew
If only they could see
This broken girl
This girl is me

What happened was
I fell in love
A love so deep
As pure as a dove

I fell before I flew
And now I want to hide
Because I lost my heart
