Hope

by Angel Tears   Jul 29, 2009

Memories course endlessly through my veins
Reminding me of scars that still remain
The present grants me a moment of peace
Though the guilt will only increase

What I have now I do not deserve
For love and trust I still reserve
Wary of life, of love, of hurt
Deep inside I remain alert

Hope keeps me strong through hours of pain
Reminding me that the future still remains
This pain cannot touch me, though I feel it inside
I am completely numb, for I have chosen to hide

My heart is numb, though it still beats
A steady rhythm filled with deceit
My feelings and thoughts remain obscure
Even my very soul is unsure

Hope rests in the hands of love
Happiness rests in one beloved
The keeper of my heart and soul
The only one who gives me control.
