Let Him Walk

by AngelsTears   Jul 31, 2009

You were there
And then you were gone.
I wondered why youd left
And why you forgot to give me back my heart.

At first,
All I could do was cry
Scream
And wonder why.

And then the anger took hold
And I swore up and down
Id never do this again,
Id never be hurt again.

I wanted you to suffer like me
And feel all that you had done.
I wanted you to fall and break
And never get up again.

And the sadness washed away all else
And I became an empty shell.
I was blank during the day
And cried myself to sleep all night.

And then I came out alive
Realizing my wings were bigger than before.
And now I understand
Why love hurts,
Why it comes
And why it goes.

If we live our lives with tears
Anger and sadness
If we become shells
And give in to the suffering,
Then we become no better
Than those who made us suffer.

So the next time he walks out that door
Let him walk,
And let him forget
All hes leaving behind.

Go ahead and cry,
Because when you come out of that shell
You will be able to fly
And he
Will only be able to watch
As you take off into the sky.

So let him walk,
Because sometimes,
Letting them walk
Is better than asking them to stay.

Wow... this poem is so beautiful! It's so inspiring! I loove it! I can actually relate to it but this poem really made me feel better... I really think it's very nicely done! I just noticed that the were some typos and I know that from when you post the poem so next time just make sure you check it is normal before you post it. Other than that, it was perfect! Great job!

What a powerful end! Good write.
