Us In A Portrait

by BornAgainWriter   Aug 1, 2009

My heart is beginning to race,
In the dirt my fingers trace,
Your name next to my name,
With a shape of a heart 'round.

I'm scratching the surface,
To the love you don't show,
Not since you left me here,
My eyes are blurred; empty.

It's not apparent as to why,
I still continue to love you-
The same heart you broke,
So why am I still waiting?

The scars are skin deep,
And it's all said and done,
I hide behind my own walls,
That I built to not get hurt.

Imaginary lines cut through-
The picture of me and you-
Smiling in an opened park,
Sitting beneath the glowing sun.

And the tears trickle down-
The cheeks you'd always kiss,
When times were different,
And worth every little second.
