Where have your thoughts taken you?

by DreamingOutLoud   Aug 1, 2009

When a soul needs someone to understand
Even in the demon it seeks to find a friend
Crying silent tears that can never be seen
Abusing the body only to confirm it's a human being

External criticism is the cloud of the souls day
Hide from the sun to play a game of die and fade away
A constant scrape turned into an empty whole
When words without actions is like a body without a soul

There is no space for me to breathe without a sigh out of doubt
This body has become numb trying to figure you out
The shadows that fall on your face are the same shadows that conceal mine
I'm walking alone in our memories, your footprints need oiling

Your insecurities diminished my appetite for living
Somewhere out there is my star
But tonight
Tonight I'm out of place
And you're out of reach.

Excellent word you, rhythm was great. The ending was very powerful. Only one thing that I found:

"I'm walking alone in our memories, your footprints need oiling"

The word oiling, kind of threw me off a bit, the rhythm and rhymn was great until that word came but then after that it went well, other than that excellent poem, well written.
