Sad but hopeful at the end. I think that at times we all feel this way. Some pain in our lives seems to keep coming back no matter how hard we try to overcome and keep it away. Good job.

If we keep our eyes on him ,life may not be a cake walk but at least you have a friend that will never leave your side
Sad write but with the understanding you have help in the end.

    Olwin,

The battle you are fighting seeps through every word you have written here.
I hope one day soon you will see something I saw a long time ago: acceptance is the key to inner peace. All things in your life you can change for the better, you work on each day and the ones you cannot change, you try to accept and leave for the Lord almighty to work on.
A lot of the pain people experience during their life time comes from not being able to accept reality. As a child we are all fed those stupid fairy tales, where all things come to a good end. Life is not meant to be all fun. A lot of the learning is done through hardship. Your cross will never be too heavy, we all have one custom made, even thoug at times it might feel we are carrying the wrong one.
In your poem I found a lot of inner strenght, that maybe you are not aware of yourself.
I also saw some minor flaws ( if I saw it correctly) I will put those in brackets, so you can compare both versions:

I cannot seem to destroy this pain,
I feel it's eating at me again[,]
[e]ating my soul from deep within,
    [i]s this a battle I'll never win?

I try to overcome it with all my might,
[b]ut find I haven't the strength to fight.
It knows I'm powerless, it knows me well,
[t]hat's why into this pit I've [fallen].

The walls are slippery, the walls are steep.
No one even knows I'm here, and I keep[no comma]
    [f]alling back the few steps[no apostrophe]that I take...
But if it's just one step at a time I must make,

l'll reach the top, one day I'll make it through,
[b]ecause God has promised, [h]e said I believe in you.
He's [taken] my hand now, it was there all the time...
I love Him so much for being a friend of mine.

    Lovely poem!

    Take care,

    5/5 Ingrid
