Creature In The Dark

by Angel Tears   Aug 3, 2009

Padded feet along the ground
Darkness wanders all around
Fear immediate in your mind
What in the emptiness will you find?

Your eyes catch movement to your right
You tense, ready for flight
The fear immobilizes, you can't run
You pray for darkness to be undone

The figure stares you in the eyes
You bite your lip, muffling your cries
You reach over to flip on the light
Only to find yourself in the night.

It might not be laugh out loud funny but all of us who have been through this can see the humor in your words. Well done.

How many times in my life have I woken in a cold sweat only to see myself in my dressing table mirror. Your poem truly had me back there feeling like I had a hundred times before the dark fear that our dreams sometimes bring us and the sudden waking for no apparent reason. Brilliant and well written all an excellent poem should have 5/5 Ray S
