What If You Knew

by Ill Give Blood To Your Dried Veins   Aug 5, 2009

What if you knew things were meant to be a different way? He tells you he loves you, but you can't say it back. And deep down you know he's not the one you want to hold at night. You keep telling yourself that soon things will work it's way out.

Each night he tells you everything will be okay. That he wants to make you happy and things will get better. Now you realize that this lie you've been living has to come out. You know the time is now.

You tell him this won't work anymore. That everytime he touches you it's not the one you want to feel. And you feel so guilty for leading him to believe that his heart was the one you held. When all you want is the one your dreaming of.

He pleads for you not to go, as you're walking out the door. You turn to him and say he's better off this way. You look into his eyes seeing the hurt and the love. You can't believe that after all you've done you're still the one he wants to hold at night.

You go to the other and hope its not too late. He said he'd be waiting but not for too long. Then he throws you that smile, the one you've been dreaming of. You hold him in your arms and know from here on out everything will be okay.
