A Maiden in the Fields

by Laila Ali   Aug 6, 2009

In the wind that forever blows,
A dandelion sways beside a befriended rose.
A maiden passing with bells on her toes
Shines sunlight on them wherever she goes.

At night when she sleeps among the bushes of cloves
The light from her skin makes the flowers glow.
They love her for the way she makes them shine;
The crimson rose and the golden dandelion

She is nothing but ever sweet and kind
She is nothing but a brief moment in time
For in the morning she rises to leave them
And they watch her go like a precious gem
But the dandelion turns and says to his friend
"Do you see her belly? That small curved bend?"

And the rose looks to see the maiden smile.
Looking down, holding her belly and her unborn child.
He glimpses a bit of heaven on her face
As she looks up and walks away with grace.
