You stayed quiet

by Mr Rhee   Aug 8, 2009

I dialed your phone,
the other day,
but you wouldn't talk to me.

I called your name,
again, and again,
but you wouldn't answer.

I quietly spoke to you,
about how much I loved you,
and said how much I missed you.

I listened for your breathing,
as I sat in the rain.
You stayed quiet.

I whispered to you,
about how much I loved you.
Still, you didn't respond.

So, I closed my phone,
and I gently laid my hand...
down upon your grave.

A harrowing poem that catches what grief can lead us to. Beautiful in its simplicity and falseless in its construction 5/5 Ray S
