Our Grandfather Was Great

Our grandfather was great

He had no feelings of hate

He never spoke lies to us

He always put his family 1st

Our grandfather was beautiful

His words were always meaningful

His heart was one of a kind

And so was his mind

Our grandfather will never be forgotten

He did nothing rotten

He was the father we never had

Now that he is gone it's just so sad

Though he is gone from here

His memories will always stay dear

And we know he will always be near

So when we meet again lets have a beer

    - I really love this stanza, very well written. My grandfather passed away awhile ago too. I can really relate: it's a very emotional time.

    "Though he is gone from here
    His memories will always stay dear
    And we know he will always be near
    So when we meet again lets have a beer"

    - I also enjoy the fact that the poem ends on a happier note. The last phrase made me laugh out loud.
