Magritte's Chapeau
Copyright July 16th 2009 Corinne Curcio

Float in a dream
With your subconscious
Play hide and seek with your soul
Look for clarity
A crumb of charity
Something to swallow whole

But those in the know dance backwards
Light a candle and brighten the sky
The mirror within offers a view
Magrittea's Chapeau explains it all for you

Dada is ca-ca
And they all agree
Turn your back to us all without care
Surrealists love
The trickery of
Art as a farce laid bare

And those in the know look forwards
Eat an apple or bake in a pie
The mirror within offers a view
Magrittea's Chapeau explains it all for you

Twirl me madly around, Rene
Pas de deux on the Rue de la Paix
Let's glide down the Seine
Lift your umbrella again
I think it might rain today

And those in the know dance sideways
Tie a bow on a bird - watch it fly
No apple can obscure the view
Magritte's Chapeau explains it all for you

An off the wall ode to my favorite off/on/in the wall painter. Excellent stuff, another one added to my favorite poems.

    Corinne,
I was absolutely amazed when I read this. You certainly have a knack not only for English, and Italian lyrics but now to add to it French phrases. I absolutely adored the insertion of "those in the know" as the relativity of it to Magritte's Chapeau. Have you been to an art gallery lately to bring about this write? Regardless, it is so wonderfully penned and you have done a fantastic job as always. Adored it as usual, and you have no boundaries of what you are able to express in poetry and song and I am always amazed at that.
    Take Care,
    Kay
