I'll Stay

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Aug 12, 2009

People drift, yeah friends go away,
but I'm still here, you know I'll stay.
I've seen you shed those tears of yours
while opening those tragic doors

leading to rooms of pure despair
filled with musky smoke filled air.
This fire burning in your life
may direct you to too much strife,

but fear not, water's on its way
to rescue you and save the day.
I won't let you burn to the ground,
though no one else is around,

I'm here to save you on my own,
so you don't die in pain alone.
I'll heal the burns that seared your flesh
and we can begin your life as fresh.

A friend is someone who is there,
to fill your heart, not leave it bare.
People drift, yeah friends go away,
but I'm still here, you know I'll stay.

You are quite the amazing writer Jen, all your poems flow with perfection! This one was not any different, a great friendship write dedicated to someone you hold dear and will not let go. You're a great person and this poem only shows more of who you truly are :) A beautiful write. I'm sure this person is glad to have you as their friend, for you will not leave them.

A beautiful write... that touched my heart and soul... Wonderfully worded and expressed.

P.S... I loved the "fire" and "water" images you used to convey the person's distress and you rescuing them from it.

    Very Well done!
