Where Art Thou Shield?

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 13, 2009

O' Protector of Night
Why hast thee fled?
Did thee sense evil
In thy master's head?
Whilst grey shadows
Sneak o'er thy hills
The myst shall fly
And commit the kills.

O' Guardian of Light
Why hast thee fell?
Did thee spend a kiss
On thy wishful well?
Whilst swelling darkness
Chokes thy livid sky
The demon shall come
And grasp thy goodbye.

This is my first attempt at writing in Old English, it was very different and I did have to research a bit. This is my interest now and soon I will be writing more in Old English.
I hope you enjoyed this, thanks for reading!

I like the usage of language here and you
did well in writing this. The poem itself leaves
    the reader with mysterious thoughts..good
    write :)

You did a very good job, I have never attempted this style of writing.. although Ive read it numerous times in books like Romeo & Juliet and other old stories. Anyways, you have impressed me here, and with that I have nothing else to say :) Keep it up.

The title..I feel it could be "Where be thy shield?" too, just a feeling..I don't really know the old English well.

I must say I admire you for trying this MaryAnne, it is something I am going to try my hand at too soon..a real challenge:))

It has such a sad touch to it: the sanity that has fled from this poor devils head, causing him to do harm on others...

    I loved this very much!

    *applauding*
