The feeling your smile brings

by kevin Boundy AKA the ghost   Aug 13, 2009

The very ground you stand on
Is where heaven and earth collide
Words can never hope to explain
The feelings I keep inside

There must be some mistake
I am not worthy of such a gift
Whenever your eyes lock with mine
My soul begins to drift

How is it that for my entire life
God has cursed me with grief
Then he sends me this perfect angel
With beauty beyond belief

I have always dreamed of the sky
But I was born with broken wings
The closest I can hope to get
Is the feeling your smile brings

The love I feel for you
No words could hope to define
And I would give the air in my lungs
If you could only just be mine

You stand before me reading my eyes
Tracing all the scars and fears
And I stand here shuddering
Trying to hold back all the tears

As you trace your fingers
Over the scars across my chest
The scars disappear with your touch
Proving that I've been blessed

Your lips press against mine
And everything seems to fade away
And as every moment passes by I beg
That my soul has not been lead astray

You fixed my broken heart
And you healed my broken wings
The closest thing to heaven I can possibly get
Is the feeling your smile brings
